作品を創る時、いいものを創ろうと考えて入るのと まあちょっとやってみようという感じでは もののあり方がちがう。ちがうという所で考えられるのは、いいものをという意識と気軽さのちょっとこの辺のあり方で出てくるものがちがってくる。
絵はキャンパスに描くものと思っている人は どこまでいってもそういう発想しか出来ていない。そうでなくてその入り口を解放することで、もののあり方が完璧に変化しているのである。
だから心がけというようなことをいうのは物事にかかわるその人の、考えの入り口をいっているのだと思う。1998年2月25日 MEMOより
The Entrance to Thought
When making artworks, things exist differently; starting to make something good, or doing just a little bit of something. I think the difference is the mindset; the mind tries to make something good, and then the light-hearted experiment produces a different outcome.
Those who think that paintings are to be created on a canvas will continue thinking in that way, however far they go. On the contrary, opening up an entrance would perfectly change how things are.
Therefore, I think that the mindset depends on the entrance to the thought of that person who has a connection to things.
