It’s Done When We Finish Painting

It’s Done When We Finish Painting

The painting is done because we have finished painting. Like this, we tend to think that what we have done is finished. It is not only paintings, but also conversations, sculpture, singing, calligraphy, and everything else; but through the experience of a person, everything starts again from there. Normally, we would think a painting is done if it is entered into a competition, but this is where we actually learn about our own art. Through this process of repetition, we discover our own creativity.

When I was young, what I was thinking and the act of creating did not match. My thoughts would always be beyond, and what I formed with my hands was always miserable. But, when I became over 50 years old, I felt that my thoughts and hands started to match, at last. I thought the gap between the mind and the hands was hard to erase, but now that I am 57, I think that I used to work based on a predefined form and a concept that things had to be in a certain way. When I broke with it, my way of creativity changed to ideas of following the objects created by my hands. I continue to chase the action itself with thinking, and then I use my hands to further the chase for the things made by my thoughts. My artworks are being born in this way.

If I think about it, I learn from what I have done, and then giving it form again; I realize this is repeated over and over without thinking.
