Being Famous

有名というのと作品というのは別のことである。
有名というのは、ただただ有名であって、人が噂をするという現象である。有名人とはそういう噂の中にいるというだけのことで、その仕事とは何の関係も無い。
というのは噂をする人は大半が眼でものをみていなくて、耳でものをみているのである。だから有名人なるものは、眼でものを見てくれているなどと勝手な思い入れで錯覚をしてはならない。ただただ有名ということである。

Being Famous
Fame and artwork are two different things. Being famous is just to be known, a phenomenon of people’s gossip. Famous people are just a gossip, which does not relate to what they actually do.
The reason is that most people who gossip do not see with their eyes; they see with their ears; therefore, people with fame should not believe in a selfish delusion that they are being looked at with eyes. They are only famous.
Artworks should be seen with your own eyes.
